Chef’s Choice M840B WafflePro Express Waffle Maker, Classic Belgian

by Lisa Whistler

There’s no better way to start a morning than with a thick, delicious Belgian waffle.  My family loves eating the creations I make with my Chef’s Choice M840B WafflePro Express Waffle Maker.  Once the machine heats up, the waffles come quick, usually cooking up in ninety seconds. The quad baking system allows you to choose how you’d like your waffles to turn out, as does the deep bake and “crispy outside/moist inside” settings. The top plate floats, allowing for equal thickness throughout your waffle.  The nonstick surface makes sure your waffles come out without a struggle.  “Baking” and “ready” lights let you know when your waffles are done, as does a “waffle ready” chime.  There are some nice little bonuses included like cord storage and a recipe booklet.  We’ve really been enjoying the waffles this device makes.

  • Easy Customization: It seems like everyone in my family has their own way of making waffles.  This device allows everyone to make their breakfast exactly the way they want to.  You can choose to have your waffles baked all the way through for uniform thickness, or you can go for the kind that is crispy on the outside and lighter in the interior.  Both kinds of waffles are absolutely delicious.

  • Quick Cooking Time: Waffles go fast in my house.  It’s often difficult for me to make up for the demand (especially if there’s some fresh fruit around to go on top).  The WafflePro’s quick cooking time reduces waffle competition by a bunch. As soon as one gets eaten I can get another one out.  There are no worries about them going cold, and I can even snag a couple for myself!

  • Great Indicators: I hate having to guess about when my waffles are ready.  I always manage to catch them a little too late.  Having a ready chime included gives me a heads up as to when my waffles are ready to go.  With such a quick cooking time this is especially convenient: ninety seconds can go by a lot faster than you’d think!

  • Nice Recipe Booklet: I have some tried and true waffle recipes that I usually use, but it’s always nice to try something new.  I tried out a few of the recipes included in the booklet and they all turned out great.  I don’t think I’ll switch from my traditional recipes, but I appreciate being able to try something different.

  • Only One Waffle at a Time: The device can only make one waffle at a time.  This can be a bit of hindrance if you have several people wanting breakfast.  The quick cooking time does alleviate some of this, though.  I find that if I put the cooked waffles in a 200 degree oven until they’re all done I can serve them all at once.  Everyone’s happy!

  • Top May Not Fill Up All the Way: Depending on the recipe you use the top of the waffle might not fill up all the way.  Using a little extra batter can help this problem, but be careful of overfilling.  We usually end up putting on some extra toppings to make up for it.  Not a bad trade.

The Chef’s Choice WafflePro makes some tasty waffles without taking up too much room on the counter.  The visual and audio indicators are very helpful in making sure you waffles come out how you’d like them.  I like having the choice between a dense or fluffy finished product.  Although it only makes one at time the waffles cook up fast, giving you more time to eat.  All in all it’s a nice little waffle maker that does the job quickly and with little fuss.  I’d definitely recommend it.
